Riverside County Fair & Date Festival

Giddy Up Ranch will proudly be participating in the Riverside County Fair and Date Festival. This event is based in Indio, CA, beginning February 15 and ending on the 24th. Our services will include Camel rides and pony rides for fair patrons.

The Festival is celebrating its 73rd year, and also features a variety of food, musicians and other attractions. Bring the whole family and spend the day with us. Check the fair’s website for times and other information. You can also visit our website to keep track of weekly and upcoming events.

Gashi Is The GOAT

There is a constant debate over who is the rap world’s greatest of all time. Depending on who you may speak to, the names Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls or Eminem may top the list. But as we very well know, opinion will own crown champions in figure skating and gymnastics, so this music debate remains open.

“GOAT” is an acronym for “Greatest Of All Time”. And though Albania rapper, Gashi, would never claim to be the best to perform in his genre, his music video “1134” makes him the goat, literally.

In 2018, we happily assisted in a music video production that featured several of our baby goats. The video’s climax shows the Brooklyn based rapper, dressed in black, dying and then transforming into a blue-eyed black goat that we have since named “Gashi’ in his honor.

Giddy Up Ranch is no stranger to Video productions, having become one of the more popular animal rentals for music producers. Our tortoises were featured in Canadian rapper Benny Mayne’s “Strangers” video, and we were also called upon for an Alpaca to star in Keiynan Lonsdale’s “Good Life”.

Though our animals appear at a glance to serve only as entertainment and display at public and private functions, they have a wide variety of uses, which include television, movies and music videos. Rising In Popularity

Llamas have slowly become the next big thing in the animal world, with several things contributing to its rise. These South American Natives, which were early pack animals for the Incas, have transformed from mountain laborers to the furry and lovable centerpieces for baby showers, weddings and so much more.

Thanks to animated classics like “The Emperor’s New Groove”, the cult-like following of “Napoleon Dynamite“, and the children’s book “Llama Llama red pajama”, the Llama is more identifiable today than it was 20 years ago. Today it is a petting zoo star, instantly capturing the attention of party guests, as it has surprisingly become one of the main attractions on display.

In the above photo, we have a llama being used as a prank, with the family believing he was a Christmas gift being delivered. But not all pranks go as planned, with the recipients instantly falling in love and welcoming the new addition to the family. Sadly, I had to break the bad news to the happy couple that was already planning a sleeping area for their new pet. Our lovely llamas are not for sale, but are always available for rent.

ICYMI: Good Day L.A.

Over the years, Giddy Up Ranch has become synonymous with birthdays and anniversaries. Whether it’s the city of Pico Rivera celebrating its 60th or children celebrating their first, we are often called upon to provide the party’s centerpiece.

Recently, Fox 11, along with its many viewers across Southern California, celebrated a very special anniversary. And once again, Giddy Up Ranch answered the call.

The cast and crew of the Fox Television’s “Good Day L.A” morning show paid tribute to long time colleague, Tony McEwing, as he celebrated his 25th year as a broadcast member. The celebration included the unveiling of a street now named in his honor, and a ride along that paved road on an unusual transport.

A big man requires large transportation. And on this day, it was a camel that would parade him from one end to the other. Though he first appeared hesitant, the King was finally aboard and presented to his loyal subjects.

“Good Day L.A” is the most watched morning show in the city of Los Angeles, establishing a new ratings record in 2017. Tony McEwing joined the FOX team in 1993. Giddy Up Ranch is no stranger to the FOX set, appearing each December on the morning show, in its Heifer International promotional segment.

Palm Sunday And Beyond

Jerusalem_Donkey_Molly

There are several events leading up to Easter, and one of them took place this past Sunday. Churches across Southern California commemorated Palm Sunday by recreating the eventful entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. And while these performances were filled with waving palms, which was also thrown before the actor’s feet, it was Giddy Up Ranch that provided the ass he rode in on.

One of those locations was the United Methodist Church in Redondo Beach, where not only did the congregation welcome our Jerusalem Donkey, but many also knew her by name.

Though it was my first visit to this place of worship, one of us had been there before. Our donkey was quickly recognized, greeted and even called by name. Now, I must admit, we have several people that assist us on the ranch that couldn’t tell the name of one donkey from the next, so it was puzzling that this group in Redondo was able to remember. But soon the pieces came together, as I met the church’s Pastor, Molly, who bears the same name as their repeat visitor.

After our Molly posed for photographs, she then led the Palm Sunday procession, with a child actor aboard. As the palm was laid before her feet, she was somewhat tempted to stop and nibble. But having a job to do, onward she went. Through the church, adjacent the stage, and patiently waiting for the Pastor to finish her words, Molly was a Palm Sunday centerpiece, with all eyes on her.

Of course, donkeys aren’t limited to biblical themes, and the calendar shows another event right around the corner. Cinco De Mayo is quickly approaching, and in the past we have provided display donkeys to bars all over the Southland. The above photograph was taken locally at the Tilted Kilt a year ago, as an Irish pub was transformed into a Latin Cantina for the Mexican Holiday.
